Several days ago I received the Cromwell Mark VIII International in 1/76th scale. I've been searching for this kit for many years so I was happy I finally found it.
This kit is a marvel of casting. The tank is pictured is one piece!  I understand that when this kit was moved to their Combat Ready series the separate major components were combined.
Only a few additional parts have to be added. They are as follows:
Added several punched out circles on the track tensioners.
Added towing loops from solder.
Replaced the rear deck molded on hatch handles with thin wire.
My research indicated that there are 5 pistol port covers on each side of this vehicle. I made these from sheet lead and added a punched rivet.
I recently got a new camera so please forgive the quality of the photos. I have quite a bit to learn on this camera.
I have now completed the construction of the Cromwell Mark VIII International. I replaced the machine guns because some were poorly cast. I used styrene rod and added the cooling holes seen on the American version. In reality there were 4 holes but I only made 2 on each one.
Also, I made the main gun barrels out of rod (tapered using my Dremel tool as a lathe) because I could not sand the kit parts round enough to my satisfaction.Â
Next up will be priming and painting. I will be using the Black Lion decals for this vehicle.Â
After a year long absence from modeling due to other obligations I have finally finished my 1/76 Cromwell Mark VIII International. Here are photos of the completed model.
As always, comments and critiques are always welcome.
Thanks Roger! Several models ago I decided to try and paint each rivet with a lighter shade of the base color. I think it works as long as I don't add too much white to the color. I mix Titanium White oil paint to the color (in this case Master Models Olive Drab).Â
