Doing my best is not the issue ( other than spelling )

I am sure the hard core collector would want the markings historicly correct , but would the average collector want the markings to look at least even ?

I am thinking that they would .

What say you all ?

Use photographs, (where possible), that way you'll get it right.

I guess it is hard to convay what I am trying to say .

I have almost everything printed on the A7V in my Library . Including 2 copies of Hundleby and Strasheim 's-The German A7V Tank and Captured ......

One for the shelf and one for the shop.

So that book does spell it out with pictures ( line drawings ) and text.

What I am asking is , would the general public prefer accurate markings . Off as they are or more uniform markings ?

I'd personally say accurate markings, but you'll always get the people who say "those markings aren't right"... lol

I would have thought that H & S drawings backed up wherever by photos showing the pattern would be as definitive as you will ever get: anybody who wants to argue those sources would have to have some really serious irrefutable reference material that hasn't seen the light of day before now.

I would have thought the biggest problem would be the colour of the German Field Grey!

As there were so few of these tanks built then accurate markings I think, because there really isnt much room for the modeller to be creative and move away from that very limited number. With mass produced WW2 tanks for example symetrical markings are much better and allow the modeller to depict a nachine not in the decals provided specifically with the kit.

But what are accurate markings? Certainly those from a photo would be spot on. But we all know that markings change on a given vehicle over time, so any number of variations could be acceptable. Of course there will always be those who insist that there's only one way is correct (theirs)! We must accent these rants for what they are . . . nonsense!
