Centurion's very interesting article on the Tank Projects 1917 - 1919 mentions a V* tadpole - do any drawings exist of this beast? As there were changes in position for internal stuff, it would be reasonable to assume that some of the external detail would also have altered in some minor way. Screams out for scratch building!
Reading the article you refer to, the introduction makes clear (to me anyway) that what the author has done is to use surviving descriptions to attempt to produce drawings where these don't exist. So that answers your first question. You then say that "... there were changes in position for internal stuff..." but the article you reference doesn't say this at all. It only says that a Mark V* was fitted by Central Workshops, possibly temporarily, with a tadpole tail. So apart from the addition of a tadpole tail the tank appears to have been just a standard Mark V*.
Best references for this would be the Central Workshops War Diary and War History. If you can't visit the UK then Bovington Tank Museum will probably be able to provide a transcript for a fee, and the National Archives at Kew will be able to provide a copy at a very much larger fee.
