Apologies if this has been settled before; I thought it had but I can't find the thread.
The MkIV female tank sent out to Gaza, bearing the name "Revenge". Did she become War Baby II, or Lady Wingate?
Or have I got it the wrong way around; did War Baby II or Lady Wingate become Revenge?
Was there an 18th Battalion or "R" Battalion for Revenge to come from before November 1917 (the 3rd Battle of Gaza)? Or was she oddly named, ie first letter of name not corresponding to battalion.
I think that War Baby II was later renamed Revenge. The photo below shows War Baby II in a "stock" MkIV configuration, whereas a photo of Revenge (seen in the Osprey MkIV book) has the modifications for roof stowage applied in Egypt.
Thanks, Rhomboid. And I've just found the thread I thought I had seen, and in it you state War Baby II turned into Revenge. Something I can add, though, is that AWM have uploaded a pic with better resolution, showing Revenge before any roof modifications
