Hi, please excuse me if this isn't the right place for this, I'm a bit out of touch with forum ettiquete these days.
I'm a freelance designer and have completed a range of kits for the British 13 and 18pdr guns with attached carriage limbers, as well as a common artillery limber/wagon combo to suit both. I'm trying to find a manufacturer to buy the designs, and was wondering what sort of response the modelling world would have?
All kits are modelled for 1/35 scale injection moulded plastic, with a bit of photoetch thrown in to keep it interesting.
If you're looking for ideas of producers to approach, two possibilities immediately spring to mind:
- Takom (China), who seem to be pursuing a range of 1/35 WW1 artillery (Krupp 21cm Moerser is out, and the 42cm 'Big Bertha' is due sometime in the near future)
- Miniart (Kiev, Ukraine), who announced a couple of months ago that they're planning a range of 1/35 WW1 kits. No idea what is to be released, or when, however...
You might like to give one or both of them a try. Best of luck, I hope you find a taker - I'd be more than happy to to buy these kits!
Your work is amazing and I hope you will find a producer for them.
I also suggest Takom or Miniart.
Since I am a CAD professional user so I'd like to know which CAD program do you use for such beautiful work.
Thanks
Cheers all - thanks for the advice! Will definitely try Takom and Miniart. I've contacted a few companies already, but no luck so far.
I'm trying to stick to 1/35 for now for the detail, you lose so much going down to 1/72-1/76, though I do know a few war gamers who want me to try. I was also thinking about upscaling to 1/24 or 1/16 for some kits, mainly due to the size of the finished model. That said, given that these are small(ish) guns, they are aimed at dioramas and figure sculpters.
The current kit I'm working on is a French 75mm mle 1897, but I have plans for the German 77mm. I would like to try the 105mm Krupp gun further down the track as well.
The program I'm using is Solidworks 2010. I'd like to upgrade, but I find their new rendering engine a bit clunky compared to Photoworks.
