Decals and 1:35 rivets

One of the things I find tricky with 1:35 scale ww1 tanks is getting decals to form nicely over rivets, especially when you have several rivets close together. Any suggestions other than the usual softeners which really dont seem to do a lot.

Lots of people use the Microsoft/Microset decalling system, but a professional modelmaker friend of mine just uses a hairdryer - they come out perfectly!!!

Just remember to place the decals on a GLOSS surface and then matt down again after they are dry or you wull get silvering.

Ah cheers. Might try the hair drier. Have heard mention of that before but not tried it. Have used the microset and sol but find 1:35 ww1 rivets too big for that to work well. They tend to break up the decal.

Walthers makes a pretty strong decal softener 'Solvaset' that will really softener up a decal.  Like others have commented you need a glossy surface to apply the decal to.

Cheers. Will look up the Walthers one. The gloss first I do anyway then satin over so thats ok. I find on ww2 armour its not so bad as you dont get these really chunky rivets all over, but all part of the fun i guess :)

Tamiya apparently also do a decal "fixer".
