I am trying to find info on the 7,7cm M96 n.a. gun No. 2050.
However, most of the info refers to a 7,7cm FK n.a. gun.
Can anybody explain the difference between the "M" suffix and the "FK" suffix?
Also, is there any record of the issue of the gun to a unit before 1914?

The full designation was 7,7cm Feldkanone 96 n.A
The FK abbreviation is obvious. "96" is 1896 the acceptance year of the gun and n.A is "neue Art" (new manufacture)
If you look below the breech ring there should be two inscriptions something like
"gef. 1898 Fr. Kp." - original manufacture by Krupp 1898
"abg. 1907 Pg. Sp'" - modified by Spandau 1907
The "M" abbreviation seems to have been added by western authors.
