Starting to work on my Takom Mk.V and looking at the options.
In the instruction they tell me, in order to get a hermaphrodite version, to place the sponson with the 6 pounder on the right hand side and the machinegun sponson on the left hand side of the tank .
But am I correct that at Smolensk there was a Mk.V with the 6 punder sponson on the left side? I remember a picture of that tank.
So the question I am really after ..... in world war 1, could they have taken two Mk.V's (a male and a female) and interchange the sponsons and have two hermaphrodites? Would that be a lot of work?
Yes, this happened. It is a myth that the male sponson was ALWAYS on the right side.
Although it is after WW1, there is movie footage of MkV tanks in Russia, and you can clearly see they are all composite and they have the male on the left on some tanks and the right on other tanks.
