Meng models french tank crew ( Late )

French crew.png

Hello all

It seems that Meng models have issued some crew for the Renault char d assaut ( Or late Saint Chamond and Schneiders )

The mask was not issued to the French  before mid 1918

I cannot see the details of the cut out helmet , anyway they were hand made at that time.

Bonjour Olivier,

Just about the picture painted on this box.

It's a French tank crew - Never ace painted on the turret in French Artillerie Spéciale - It was only the American Renault FT, during WW1.

If it's well a French tank crew during WW1, the weather jacket is always black. Brown weather jacket is later and for WW2

If the cut helmet is well a hand made, it's good for a tank crew (Schneider - Schneider - Renault FT) from 1917 and 1918, but not for a tank crew after 1920.

Meng was probably in a hurry for this box . . . . named " French FT 7 Light Tank " and also " FT 17 "

and their historical adviser and painter are really not a the top !

Of course, a very interesting set for French tank model makers, up-to-date for french Artillerie Speciale uniforms . . . . smile

Bon Week-end - Michel

A pity they did not provide photo-etch spokes for the M/C. They are moulded too thick in plastic and spoils the look somewhat !

I'm sure someone will produce an etched set.
