In the book "Les Canons de la Victoire 1914-1918 Tome 1" notes (p.11) "Notre dessin le représente dans sa 

finition d'origine, peint en vert olive, coleur traditionnelle de l'artillerie française avant que ne s'impose, en 1897,

le gris perle, plus connu sous le nom de 'gris artillerie'. Mais en 1914, beaucoup de pieces anciennes ont conserve

leur teinte d'origine."

Google translate renders this as:

"Our drawing shows the original finish, painted olive green, the traditional colour of the French artillery before that is called for in 1897

pearl gray, known as the 'gray artillery'. But in 1914, many old parts were preserved their original color"

Gris artillerie is a different colour to "horizon bleu" - it has a bluish tinge though.
