British 14 inch Mk3 railway gun

As I mentioned in another thread, one of my hobbies is preparing artwork of military hardware. My first effort in this area was the British 14 inch Mk3 railway gun. My process is to first create a line drawing in Adobe Illustrator which I then import in Adobe Photoshop. I use the vectors from Illustrator to create selections in Photoshop which I then manipulate to create a greyscale drawing. After this, I create weathering effects and then apply the camouflage.

The art is prepared for printing on a large scale printer so the final art is about 38 inches wide at 300dpi. Obviously the shots below are reduced in resolution and the watermark copyright is an unfortunate necessity of modern living. The second is a detail view to show just how much goes into each drawing.

Enjoy.

That looks great! And I like the potted explanation.

Paul,

WOW! Simply superb.

You should get in touch with Pen & Sword Books and get some work as an illustrator, though possibly too late for the forthcoming book on WW1 British and German railway guns!

Cheers,

Chris
