Whippet Index Numbers
Permalink

I am sure I have seen a long table with all of the known British WW1 tank, names, index numbers, and even commanders etc. listed somewhere but for the life of me cannot locate it now.

Was trying to find it to look up the known names and outcomes for the Whippet tanks in particular. I'd like eventually to see a full list of all of those numbers with known photos of them as a reference source for people but that's a long way off and quite a project.

help please?

I've only tabulated a dozen or so, so far.

checking through that list it doesn't list A386 and A390 which were both sold to Japan

On that list A391 mistakenly has a picture of A390 with it.
Tha thread on Japanese Whippets says 6 were sold to Japan landships.activeboard.com/t47975172/japanese-whippet-a390/ but we only have A386 and A390 serial numbers confirmed. What were the other four?

Looking down that list in Russian service either exported/captured are some 17 vehicles but there are 16 serial numbers with no vehicles associated namely:
A224, A232, A248, A251, A254, A279, A295, A370, A373, A373, A380, A382, A393, A397, A398, and A399
