I would welcome your thoughts on this picture, found in the possessions of Gnr Horace John Ellocott who was discharged from the Tank Corps on 2 Aug 1917.
He served as a crewman in Tank D10 on 15 Sep 1916 near Flers
That's a rather nice find and an accomplished drawing. Gnr Ellocott had talent but I am a little worried about the dated of 1915. Â If it were 1916 that would be better

The date was not written at the same time. It is in a soft pencil whereas the drawing was done with a hard pencil and later inked over. The handwritting in HMLS Dinkum and the text bottom left does not match the handwritting style of the date. Scrapbooking was a big hobby in the days before TV. Someone else has cut this out and stuck it on this page and added a date.
Gwyn Evans has spotted that the picture is probably a tracing of a War Bond Sales poster. This was based on an original tank photograph taken at the 1917 City of London Lord Mayor Show in November.
The D10 and Dinkum details must have been original - to the best of my knowledge there is no other record of a D Coy / Battalion tank called Dinkum
