The tracks on both tanks are adjustable and so it would depend on the setting when the original was measured as to how many links are advised or included in each companies model.

Yes it is adjustable , depending of the position of the tension wheel ( Inward / outward )
In real the tankers were tensioning up the track ( To counterstrike the wear ) and once they could not extend anymore the tension wheel , they were removing 1 track
link .
So the number of link is not an exact science.....

Unfortunately nothing about the mechanical part of the MK V*
The wear of the drive sprocket will match the wear of the track links .
I do not have the book in hands now but I am quite sure Bion is mentioning this in his book.
