The colourising process is one thing, the big difference with the clips I have seen is the way the original footage has been cleaned up. The 'jerkiness' of the original films have been smoothed out too.
All I can say is "Go and see it." It's a masterpiece. It's as if it was made yesterday; colour, movement, speech - all magnificently done. And it tells the whole story, from enthusiastic joining-up to disillusioned unemployment. I'm so glad that this will now be around forever. I wish my grandad and great-uncle could have been here to see it. All the veterans have gone now, and one day those of us who remember them will be gone. Somehow, in next to no time I have gone from a kid with a box of Airfix soldiers to an old man who still chokes up when he hears "The Last Post." Jackson has done something brilliant that will keep these men alive forever. There's a rumour that a DVD will be sent to every secondary school in England or the UK. I hope so.
My only complaint is that the Mk IV and Mk V*s in the film are green . . .

Went to Bov at the weekend on an Access All Areas tour. The archivist who took us round the site confirmed my suspicion that the tanks in PJ's film are the wrong colour. He said he was very disappointed. All they needed to do was ask Bov's advice. We agreed that this will cause reference problems in the future, perhaps for ever.

Saw most of it last night and I have to say I was well impressed with the way they've done the "colourisation" in that unlike previous attempts, where the colours just seem to be one shade for the uniforms and one for the flesh, the variations used are far and above what I expected. The lack of any "educated" comments, replaced by the voices of those that were there all brought it to life. I can't comment on the accuracy of the colours but again I was well impressed with the variation. Well worth a watch.

Peter Jackson's movie is on limited release in Australia - my local arthouse theatre is running a small number of sessions. I think I'll go to tomorrow's
It is now on the BBC iPlayer (probably only in the UK) and there is a programme on BBC4 in the UK tonight (7:30pm 12/11/18) about Peter Jackson and making the film.
