Maybe this was asked before, but I remember reading about a German super-big gun that could reach Paris from a very long way away and supposedly was destroyed before it was ever found. Was this really just a legend after all, like the Bermuda Triangle?
So it was real...even though it would turn out to be a technological dead end. I read that the stepper motor used in computer disk drives originated in World War One as well, but with the idea of gun positioning.
