Good day. Please, at some photographs, I noticed that the tanks of the Mark IV do not have the upper structure of the L profiles. Knows someone please reason why?

Unditching rails were not fitted to Mark IV tanks until after the Battle of Messines in early June 1917, and shortly before the commencement of the Battle of Third Ypres on 31 July 1917. These photos are from early June 1917.
