New photos of American Tanks, STeam Tank, Skeleton Tank and Electric Tank

Hello

I just came across these photos, they are new to me and I thought I would share. A couple are mislabeled as British Tanks. I love the front image of the Steam Tank, very vivid and clear.

All the Best

Tim

The second image is a Holt Mark I Motor Gun Carriage with an 8inch howitzer. There are very few images of these

vehicles around. There were 50 ordered for delivery in early 1919 but none were completed before the Armistice when

the production contract was cancelled. The single prototype was the only Mark I built.

Regards,

Charlie

The vehicle on the carriage following the Holt Mark I seems to be a Holt Mark II with 155mm GPF gun - identified from the suspension after tweaking the image a bit, the gun is covered with a tarpaulin.

Regards,

Charlie

Brilliant, Tim. Where did you find those?

Were the images of the tanks taken at Aberdeen in the early 20s? Judging by the height of the grass and the lack of trampled grass it looks like the

tanks have been parked there a while.

Regards,

Charlie

On the left of picture No. 5: Isn't that the Steam Wheel Tank?

These are part of a set of photos offered as "Buy it Now" on eBay by seller "bsbbooksjrp

Here is a a link to one of the sales:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-WWI-Photo-RARE-MARK-IV-FLAME-THROWER-STEAM-TANK-1918-at-APG-83/223545042563?hash=item340c52a683:g:URUAAOSwk-9c2rnn

As to WHEN the photos were taken, these appear, from time to time, so my guess echoes CharlieC's opinion that they were taken at Aberdeen, post-Armistice. It seems they were printed with distribution in mind.

I have no idea where they came from originally, I found them on a Russian WW1 Forum, WW1 Modellers Club & Yellow House Club.

All the best

Tim

Those photos are mainly from APG. There are some very similar photos at NARA showing them sitting in the same field in the early 1920s.
