Some time ago there were requests for dimensions of flimsies. My late father was a restorer of motorbikes of C 1912 -1922. These included an ex WW1 WD Royal Enfield. As part of his search for accessories etc he aquired a number of flimsies of the period. As I had the opportunity visit my Mother today I took the chance of looking round Dads workshop. Unfortunately some one has half inched his WD flimsie but two civilian ones of the same period remain. As their dimensions were identical to the WD one I enclose a photo. Note the brass filler caps which were typical. I also took some measurements. The tops are 6 inches by 10 inches and the depth is 11 inches. BTW my late Uncle who was in Burma with the RAF in the last 'misunderstanding' and still had to rely on flimsies for refueling purposes said that they "leaked like b*****y"
