Chain-driven trucks

Am trying to assemble information on the Seabrook Armoured Lorries.

The lorry was chain driven - does this imply a long chain back to the rear axle or were they front-wheel driven?

I think the Seabrook trucks were fairly similar to the Garford trucks (attached). I think the advantage of a chain final drive was that

the differential could be mounted ahead of the wheels, the drive shaft was shorter and chains can abosrb shock loads pretty well. Hopefully

someone who knows about truck transmissions can supply a better answer.

Regards,

Charlie

Thanks Charie and James - I was under the impression that there was no drive shaft - same as a bicycle.

Will try and build model so that no-one can see under it!
