A bit of history:
When the First World War broke out, the Regia Marina had the task mainly in the Adriatic, to maintain maritime domination and to protect the coasts. Along the coasts, armed trains were equipped, which shuttled from Ravenna to Brindisi.
As part of these complex operations, special naval means were created, set up to provide fire support to the land forces: armed pontoons or rafts, which due to the characteristics of navigation in the coastal area, it was necessary to prepare a number of shallow draft boats on which large calibers of artillery and anti-aircraft pieces were mounted. Some of these barges had been reconverted for military use by merchant and fishing vessels, other pontoons had been built from scratch by the Venice Arsenal.
However from the further information collected, the hull was in metal as it was built in Castellammare di Stabia where only metal hulls were built.

This is really looking good. I was not aware of this artillery piece until now, so I am learning a good bit. This is going to be incredible when you are done. Thanks for posting here on the site.
Now that is a real showpiece. This will really look nice displayed. You are definitely an artist as this piece is stunnig. I like the way you chose to display this unique artillery peices. The figures and everything else is top notch. Thanks for taking the time to photograph and post your work as that can be a chore in itself at times. LOL
