The return of Jedi (stroked out) Jeffery Armored Car No.1
Permalink

Just after building the model of Jeffery Armored Car No.1 from 1916, I wanted to make a model of the earlier version this vehicle.

Due to various reasons this idea was suspended for many years.

But now I have better pictures, and despite of the fact that I still do not have complete information about the prototype let me return to this project.

So, what we have at the present time:

1.     1) A blueprint made from a replica of a version from 1916

2.   2) A few pictures of a version from 1915:
     a). a starboard view
     b). a front-left view
     c). a front-right view
     d). a back-right view

3) The first step – let’s put the exist blueprint to a starboard view:

Due to the perspective distortion, the only object that we may trust to is the starboard surface.
And here we see that the central compartment has different positions at the blueprint and at the picture.

I still have no information if the versions from 1916 and from 1915 were the same vehicle just rebuilt or there were two different ones. If we knew that the later version was the same vehicle with changed nose part – we could say that the exist replica and the paper model have incorrect geometry.
Anyway, they have at least one mistake: the hull (looking from the top) has narrowing from the central compartment both to the front and to the rear ends.
But looking to the prototype (both version – from 1915 and from 1916) – the almost whole hull must be straight.

4) Looking to the information above, we can create a preliminary 3D-model (turrets, wheels, steps and grips were stolen from the exist 3D-model – they are the same).

It seems, the hull must be little wider.
And I can not determine exactly the geometry of the nose.
But this question can be resolved later – the exist information is enough for start working.
