This may appear to be a dumb question but someone out there might have the answer. I have managed to obtain a resin gun carrier but I would like to improve it by adding the rear steering wheels as seen on many pictures of this afv. unfortunately I have drawn a blank on the internet on how they were attached . Does anyone have a picture or information how they were attached to the gun carrier.
There's not a lot of information on the Gun Carrier steering tail. I think it was only used on the first prototype Carrier. The few images of the Carrier which have a tail all seem to be taken at Dollis Hill proving ground in NW London. The IWM has a pair of images showing the tail attached and I found another rear view showing the stub axles on the track frames and the brackets on the rear of the hull for the hydraulic lift cylinder.
I haven't found any images of the spring system used to keep the steering tail in contact with the ground. At a guess it may have been like Little Willie with the springs underneath the hull.
