Unusual minenwerfer(?) in St. Quentin 1916

I came across some images of a strange looking gun, that most of all looks like a homemade minenwerfer. The images are taken in St. Quentin in may 1916, when the German kaiser visited von Below. Original images can be found on the website: https://kenniscentrumhuisdoorn.nl/collection.

Looks like the Albrecht. Made of wood, but the genuine article.

Spot on! Thank you. I haven't come across this weapon before, but I am very familiar with the dreaded 'coal bucket', mentioned in many eyewitness accounts.

Hiya,

This indeed is an Albrecht. It has a wooden barrel reinforced with wire wound around it. It came in three flavours, 25, 35 en 45 cm caliber.
