Soma - Belgian Military Photo Archives Online
Permalink

Hello,

I recently ran across the Soma photo archives online at Soma.

There are many interesting photos that I have never before seen. Here are several examples:

When you do a word search the hits are returned to you as links. Click on a link to open up the photo then you can view the rest of that particular set of images as thumbnails if you click on the icon of the eyeball.

Also, these photos were acquired from donors around the world so some of the descriptions are in English, some French, and possibly other languages as well - so when you do your searches, be sure to try "tank", "char", "panzer" & etc.

This site is well worth the visit!

Mark

Mark, many thanks for posting the link, some of the pictures you posted are WW2 but still interesting. Regards, Pat

The second photo, I found the most intriguing; this tank wreck has a poster on it of a 'Bal Musette', which is a dancing festivity with (most likely) Belgian bagpipe music. (Bagpipes is my other big hobby, hence my interest in this particular photo). I would say this photo was taken just after the war. Nice!

Michel.
