Good day. I would just like to know the difference between the two A7V kits by Tauro - the Sturmpanzerwagen and the Totenkopf. Tauro packs a hefty price tag and I don't want to get the wrong one.
Is it really advisable to get the Tauro A7V at all?
The difference between the two Tauro kits is.... the decals.
The Tauro kit does have a few errors but still worthwhile getting. The best option would be <rant starting here> for any manufacturer to start issuing more injection moulded kits of WWI subjects in any scale!! </rant end>
its not that bad of a kit, the bottom is completely wrong, but the kit is very complex with nice tracks that are single link, you should check out the review on the landships site.
if you do decide to build it, the tracks should not be built with the metal rods the yare too thick use heated spruce. The kit has some interior parts as well.
The tracks are probably the part of the Tauro A7V that I have the least problem with - except for needing three hands to put in the last track pin.
Apart from the interior (which is total fiction) the real issue is the bogies. These need a lot of work as Tauro have added the side plate which intended to stop the track moving laterally (no guide teeth) but make them too short to reach the track. For real accuracy, the bogies need to be rebuilt with deeper sides, which will lead to a fair bit of work.
Many thanks for the tips and suggestions. I was also wondering if I need to buy those Grandt bolts. Those bolts are difficult to obtain where i'm from (as are WW1 kits and references).
I'm planning to do A7V 560 in splinter/lozenge style camo. Any tips and references would be greatly appreciated.
