Welcome to this Forum! It has been started on the direct suggestion of two friends of this site, people that both have been unable to register to the Missing Lynx WW1 Forum, not because they have misbehaved, but simply because it's so complicated to do so. The same thing has happened to me: I've applied to the forum, been vetted and approved (you think you were joining MI.6) but still can't login! Frustrating. Because that WW1 Forum there was really showing promise, but now it's not that lively anymore.

So this forum is a completely open forum, no registration or login necessary. I trust that this will not be abused. (Still, I or someone else will off course monitor the Forum all the time.)

Building up a lively Forum will take time, but that's fine with me. Anyway, now it's opened for anyone with questions, suggestions, discussions, work in progress etc.

Take care!
/Peter K

Nice initiative. Haven't been able to access the Missing Lynx Forum either. Hope this one turns out well.

I second Derek, Peter - superb idea, and I look forward to seeing this develop.

It's about time there was a forum for those interested in the technology of the Great War!

Great the missignlynx is becoming very loonely, and thats because of the registration, when you register you get a ton of junk mail about all their other forums in your mailbox, somethig that is well, an anoyence

Hi Peter,
I'm glad that you've started this forum because I, too, have not figured out how to use the Missing Lynx forum. I hope that you won't constantly nag us about not having a valid e-mail address on every single post, like they did!

The problems with the formerly so excellent Missin Lynx Discussion Forums started after Osprey took over, I think. They have been running a more and more tight ship, and although one can understand some of it, I think it unfortunately has been counterproductive, driving people away because it was so difficult to even get to post.

There will be no restrictions here, as long as this is not abused. Just standard netiquette!

heh i wouldnt worry about it being misused peter, it isnt exactly easy to stumble into your site, you kind of have to be looking for something from WWI, but yes it is good to keep a monitor. for some reason there are a lot of odd people out there who have a thing for ruining other peoples fun for absolutely no reason.

Yes I second that, also if we get people from missing lynx over here than we will have just as a successful forum, the problem is that a lot of 1/35 WWI modelers are still strugling with missing lynx and I dont want to post on that forum saying there is another forum in landships

but I guess I have too

becasue we shouldnt split WWI modelers we need to unite them lol

As a semi regular on Missing Links I sympathise with those who have been having trouble since the revamp but it seems to be settling down again now.

It's good that a more specific forum has been set up and I daresay I will be asking loads of questions in the near future.

Hi ,

I've never had any real problems with the ML forum but have found this site as a mine of information, even though I model in 1/35 and 1/32 scale. The addition of a forum here can only improve things for WW1 modellers.

Howdy Peter,

Many thx for the warm "Welcome to this Forum!" message...I can't tell you how happy I am for having found this Forum that is dedicated to World War I
I have always been lured to the earlier examples of human developement in the physical sciences and having had the fortunate advantage of spending some time reading and appreciating your participating members input on the Forums I really feel like I've found a very pleasant 'second-home'.....my only hope is to be counted amoungst the more worthy and positive members of your corner of the internet 'world'

Warmest Regards,

Tread.

P.S. Gotta tell ya tho'....it's quite funny for me to see someone like Tim Rigsby checking in on the Forum's under the 'handle' {I think} "Tim R" with only a handful of posts to his credit, and only a "Private" {or is that a Corporal} designator tacked on to his name.............he's obviously not the only one, but, in the same instance, am I the only one who thinks this is......odd?

.......maybe some of the members here who have already given so much to all of us can be granted some sort of.....'pit crew' status?.....?

My apologies for being so 'direct' with my input......maybe it's my guilt for being 'rated' at the same level {Private} as the likes of blokes such as Tim, Vilkata, Roger, etc, etc, etc.....

BTW......I think I know GrzeM........are you the same bugger from the big 'A'?......

Well the ratings can't be given retroactively, or gyus like Tim would be Generals already. Or can they? I'll check. But it's a simple counting system, I'm afraid...

No worries Peter, I completely understand. I just felt the need to voice something about that wee imbalance.......but I'm quite sure that the above mentioned fellas are beyond any real desire of 'bean counting'...

I guess I just needed to feel more comfortable with my unworthiness to the site in comparison to these guys...........

warm regards,

Tread.

Well, I'm quite new at all this, but very glad to be here- one minor quibble with an otherwise wonderful site-there is no direct link to the forums on the main page as faras I can tell...

 Regards and Thanks!

IMPORTANT! (This seemed the most appropriate place to type this in)
There is some kind of problem with the typing boxes since recently. You can't start a new topic, nor can you edit your signature or bio. Why is this? Help!

I just edited my bio without any trouble. Have you tried again since the last time?

P.S. Also posted a new topic, to be deleted, again without difficulty. Is there anyone else having trouble?

A few posting tips.

Over quite a while, some posts have been a bit out of their proper area, eg. Reference posts in the Guestbook area and Modelling posts in the Tanks area. I previously had the ability to shift these posts over to a more suitable section but, for reasons unknown to me, I can no longer do this.

What I would like people to do, as far as possible, is to consider what their post is about and where best to place it. For example; you might be trying to find out if any manufacturers produce a resin Mark VII. This would be best in Modelling rather than Tanks. If you are after information about the Mark VII for your model then a post would be best in Tanks or References. If after assembling the model you want to post photos of it (and who wouldn't?), then back to Modelling you go.

Another thing to consider is making your post title clearer for everyone. Many of our members first language isn't English and a clearer title can make it easier for them, and everyone else, to know what you are asking for or posting about.

Please note that the above is just a guideline, not a "set in stone; offenders will be hung, drawn and quartered" rule. The forum should be a friendly, fun, and informative place.

Possibly a consequence of the forum going deep into the red with regard to subscriptions.  I will try to chip in a bit.  Can't do it all but happy to do what I can - this forum gives much, seems only fair to pay back if one can.

Possible but I think it actually happened before the forum was in debt. I asked Peter K about it when he was still here but I can't remember if he said he was going to check on it or even if he replied.

Good news everybody.

I have finally managed to adjust my moderator abilities (again, good luck supercedes good management) and now I can create stickies again. Also, posts can now be sorted out into their proper categories which is good news for you guys and more work, initially, for me but well worth it.

Good to know you´re well in control Mark! However, the forum is in the RED again, so I´m calling on all readers to make a donation again.
