Was wondering if the 4.7 inch guns mounted on wheels as used be the RN during in the Boer War were modified for use in WW1? I' ve seen photos of 60 pdrs and (I think) 127 mm guns that seem to have a similar carriage although different wheels. If so, I was wondering if someone could post photos and drawings of these guns. An abridged history would also be of interest.
In the Boer War it was on 'percy Scott' carriage. In WW1 it was on 'Woolwich' carriage. Clarke & Delf, British Artillery 1914-19, Field Army Artillery, refers.
Periodically, I pester HaT to make a model. It would cover two of their ranges; 'Colonial' and 'WW1'. The same goes for the 6" 30cwt howitzer. Maybe I will pester Armourfast as well.
I wouldn't mind a nice 6" 30cwt Howitzer, and an FWD to go with it! Was admiring the one at Woolwich earlier today, doesn't 'alf look funny looking down from the staircase with the barrel so far back on the carriage
