this is my attempt to refresh the old Airfix Mk1, converting it in a Mk2. I did not do much on the kit itself (the 'new' release) as for instance I did not give it the girder on the sponson deck. I only did a bit of drilling out the vision slots, gave it muffler plates and did not glue to tight the track. And the hatch on the cupola off course. It was merely a test case for painting and mudding. This time I used Vallejo acrylics, it works nice in an airbrush. The mud came from the train model shop, actually it's a plaster-like stuff used for hills etc. Probably even the normal DIY shop plaster or powder filler can be used. The colour is a bit too khaki-ish I think, after I have seen the nice colours on other forum member models. I am open for critical comments, the only way to learn.
Hi John: the mud is a grey powder with a habit of drying up in a fresh concrete color, white grey. It sucks the khaki and grey spray paint, but a little paint and water on a brush does the same. This is 'Heki', a German product but I am sure there are a lot similar products on the market. I never laid hands on the Tamiya mud, which seems promising.
Hello Kieffer, looks very nice. The mud looks "naturel"!
greetings,Hans.
