Was this gun called the QF 2-pdr Mark II? I mean the one used by the RMA in WW1. And I am looking for a couple of good pictures of one to use in article; can anyone help?

Err... did you try this page?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QF_2_pounder_naval_gun
There's a couple of good links and images.

Used by the The Anti-Aircraft Brigade RMA?  Almost definitely.  More detail, some pics (in Italian Service) at, http://www.navweaps.com/Weapons/WNBR_2pounder_m2.htm.  In the broader context of British smaller-calibre naval weapons - http://www.navweaps.com/Weapons/WNBR_Main.htm (latter at least reassures there wasn't some little-known "QF 2-pdr Mark I" in general service but such a thing did exist, apparently).

Thanks, gents. Yes I found those, but the pictures are not solely of the pom pom or they are not available for me to use in an article because of copyright concerns (unlike patriotfiles, I try not to be an A-hole). The search results were similar with Yahoo, as well.

I was hoping that someone had visited the Imperial War Museum or The Royal Artillery Museum and had a couple of snaps that Landships2 could use. I try to improve articles as I convert them, so I'll keep looking.

Images on Wikipedia are usually Creative Commons which means you can use them without
copyright concerns. Wikipedia is quite strict about not including copyrighted material and
says that they will never assert any copyright over material on their site. You can determine the status of any image on Wikipedia by viewing the full sized image.

Fortunately all the old period images are now copyright expired - even in the USA.

Charlie

Thanks, Charlie. With wikipedie it was not copyright concerns, the pom poms they show are attached to a railway waggon and do not show any detail of the gun (which is the focus of one particular paragraph I am working on). The photos, from The Australian War Memorial, are excellent and all that, but don't have enough detail of the gun.

I have a snap that captures the gun, however, it is hidden behind another gun that I clearly found more interesting (and Ottawa is about a 7-hour drive away so I'm not going back anytime soon):

Looks like it's just a slightly bigger calibre 1 pdr pom pom, like the one at the IWM Lambeth

That is an interesting gun in front of the Pom Pom - it's a  QF 77mm MK1 - a gun reworked from captured Feldknone 96 n.As as a gun for merchant ships. There only a 100 or so built. There's another one at Mannum in South Australia - the FK 96 had originally been captured by Australian troops.

Regards,

Charlie

Hi PDA, you will need to contact the following club about usage I think

Paul, that's a great find, thank you.

To avoid any copyright issues, and to give credit to the correct people, and so that confusion is not created about authorship, I think the best thing to do is simply put a link to that page in the article.

(I explained it like that so that the idiot who runs Patriot Files gets an education.)

This is the article that we can put the link in:

http://www.landships.info/landships/car_articles.html?load=car_articles/Pierce_Arrow_AA_Lorry.html

Thanks again, Paul.
