The title probably is stretching things a bit, but from the links on this thread http://pub33.bravenet.com/forum/static/show.php?usernum=2833323740&frmid=6&msgid=983821&cmd=show it is my understanding these Russo-Turkish War guns http://www.strelets-r.com/SetsR/Set111/Box.html were used in WW1 and in the Netherlands up to 1940.
The Strelets Ottoman crew http://www.strelets-r.com/SetsR/Set111/Master.html looks promising to me. Regards, Pat
Hi Pat, yes that is the case... although I wouldnt expect anything too detailed it was my hope that Strelets would produce them for the RTW range as they can of course be used for WW1 and FPW as well.... Although I believe the Russians used only Bronze copys during the RTW the Turkish appear to have had quite a few in use during the war.... Also the Turks had many Modern Breech loading and repeater Rifles as opposed to the many Rifled musket conversions which the russians mostly had....
I was fairly sure that those guns would have still been hanging around by the time WW1 got started; perhaps in the Middle East or Africa. And if they weren't then they would make useful starting points for conversions (that I'm sure our friend Brennan could talk us all through).
I am still curious about how these will turn out. The crews look typical for Strelets, but the CAD drawn guns do not. Will the guns look as crisp as the drawings? Strelets have hinted that they are developing a new moulding method/process, and I got the impression they might be talking about plastic assembly kits. Maybe I'm reading too much between the lines? Wait and see, I guess, but if Strelets produced plastic kits, with their penchant for things Russian, we might see a Mark V in plastic as well as these new guns.
Hi PDA, I do believe very similar guns were being used on the western front, at least later in the war " Needs must when the devil Drives", but this is true of most if not all the beligerents who pressed into service everything that had any use left in it.... I do believe there is a piccy or a thread somewhere on the forum about something similar.....
