Armoured Trains? Information wanted.

Has anyone on Landships built a WWI era armoured train, be it a engine or carriages? If so do you have any images of your project?

I have a train project on the back-burner for next year and I could use help with ideas and design.

Hello Thylacine,

There is a rare Austrian Armored train kit out there, Here is the review on Landships Main page:

http://www.landships.freeservers.com/new_pages/fsf_ah_armtrain_kit.htm

There is one small problem, I have been trying to find this companys models all year, and it is truly a "Deadlocked Trench  situation" for my part as the company that produces this and other WWI models has been out-of-business since 2006 or 2008.

However, Try the links posted on the review, They may have some old stock left, as Austro-Hungary and WWI trains in general do not recieve much attention.

Also, 5-Star produces two Railguns.  Here is the French railgun review:
http://www.landships.freeservers.com/fivestar_305mm_m06_rrgun_kitreview.htm

It goes without saying but it is a MOST COMPLICATED KIT to assemble.

Here is a review for the German railgun:
http://www.landships.freeservers.com/new_pages/5star_kurze-bruno_kit.htm

This Kit needs to  be backdated from a WW2 to the WWI version.

Finally for a good starting point, especially for troop trains, Reviresco produces a good engine, with alittle time, effort, and research, you could rework it into an armored model. to find them just go to:
http://www.tin-soldier.com/cgi-bin/ustorekeeper.pl look under TRAIN in the catgories.

Hope this all helps.

Regards, Josh

This company sells the old FSF stuff:

There is also the Zaamurets armoured train from 5-star:

Matador Models make a WW1 flatcar. W^D Models do various railway waggons. Meridian Models make (I think) two different Simplex's.

And I have seen some of the toy trains from the Thomas The Tank Engine range turned into armoured locos in use in Africa. However, I can't find the link at the moment.
