Looks nice but they've used the old Bellona plans from years ago with the extra angle on the front of the sponson... what a shame especially when there's a fantastic set of plans from Helen on this site� cry �

To be fair to them though, I have only recently gone pubplic with my plans, so I would say it will take 6 months to a year before a commercial firm updates there range.

I do in fact feel like the messenger with the bad news!� I know how much time and effort goes into getting a model into production, so to find out it all needs changing, is going to hurt.

Way back in the long distant past, I had my suspicions that the top of the tank was wrong, so I contacted Bovington. I purchased from them some black and white photos of the MK1 being moved to Bovi... and there in black and white, was the truth.

Took me about 4 years to then turn it into plans though.

If there are any Kit Manufacturers out there who want to use my plans, then I am willing to draw up a set for them to use with their model, but they must still have this sites name still on them. I think that's only fair concidering the help I had from the members on here.

�Don't be bashful Helen... they're as accurate a set of plans as any modeller could wish for.

I really wish they'd be available when I started my Mk. I project but theyre still very useful to check I got the shapes and sizes right and absolutely invaluable for rivet placement.

This is where good reference material is critical, personally if I find a set of plans on the net, in a book etc. I never trust them until Ive compared them with as many pictures as I can find and checked the overall dimensions against published info as you say going back when the masters and moulds are done is a painful process.� doh

Hi,

Just a note on the MKI from JTFM, the model was done from plans on this site and another set� plus as many photos as I could find on the net, mainly from Phil thy dirty animal's FLCKR stream.

It's the best I could manage at 1:56th so some bolt heads will be incorrect to fit on the model. It may be up to 2mm out in places although�the margin of error�I work to is around 0.2mm. There are around 2,500 individual bolts/rivets on this model�installed by hand/eye/punch/pencil/drill!

I'm always willing to improve a model with updated info and can make a new set of sponsons. The information I had was that the simplified angle sponsons that you mention were fitted to the MKII rather than the early MkI and the photos and video seem to support that.

You are definately right though that I didn't have Helen's drawings (master model done before her drawings) so no doubt I will be able to produce a more accurate model next time.

While hopefully this will be the best MkI model out there in small scale for some time it was designed for wargaming. I think you will really enjoy having one of these lovely kits. The guns move :)
