Landships ii site
Permalink

Evening,

Can anyone tell what happened to the "Landships ii" site (NOT THE FORUM), since this morning 25 Jul 11 I can't open it anymore. Provider says that webpage can't be shown.

Do others have the same problem or is it just a "Belgian" Problem

Tks,

DJ

Service seems to be down at 9:22pm 25 Jul GMT - won't serve pages or connect via ftp.

Unfortunately I'm not the owner of the site - Michel Boer of Black Lion is - i've sent him an email to ask PLESK what's happening.

Regards,

Charlie

Yes, checked 'worldwide', no network problem, it is the content server.

I got some lookup failures1, 'pinging' from various proxies around the world, but the hosting network itself seems fine apart from those inexplicable instances - which is good since the nameservers are (both) hosted on the same network (not the most robust arrangement but no apparent problem in this instance).

So it is 'just' the content server, affecting Landships II and half a dozen other domains which share that server.  That's a mixed blessing in my experience - usually 'whole of network' problems are fixed PDQ and with usually minimal or no data loss implications.  Single server - maybe not.  Oh well, here's hoping Michel can quickly get it moving again.

[edit]1 Oh, I wonder if that is some protection against DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack?  I have not seen it before (no expert/intensive user) but I would love to believe a network can protect itself that way.  I guess conjecture is fruitless (but I make it anyway).

Steve

Still down at 2:25pm 26 July GMT - I had an email from Michel - he said he will chase up WebReus (the hosting company).

Regards,

Charlie

WebReus got back to Michel - they have "technical problems" which they are working on. Most of the websites hosted by WebReus are currently not working including Landships II.

Charlie

Yep, looking good.  That "down-up-down again" business for any given location seems to be pretty normal for a server coming back on-line - but now it seems to be up again, everywhere.  Well, the situation in China is indeterminate - maybe they don't like proxy services (goodness knows what they might think about anonymous proxies then).  And some of the US proxies have retired too. Maybe NSA doesn't like them.

Ah, I've found the superscript-subscript (and HTML generally) again.1

1(browsers and/or this bulletin board keep changing ...)
