Can't help you with the Scale link barbed wire. The only experiance I have is with Preiser HO wire ref. 18337 and wire sold by Green scene. Both are OK but a true scale thickness in 4mm would be so fine and delicate I don't think it would be "useable"
but I have used the one from Part, which is also photo-etch on brass. I didn't really like it very much. I found it had metal fatigue at the ends of the strip, so it snapped when I tried to get long lengths. I ended up with just short strips; which are OK for a destroyed German trench, but not really what I was aiming for.
I am going to experiment with nylon insect screen - the kind that all north American homes have on their windows. I read a technique: just cut down a line, and the little cross-pieces left behind will look like barbs.
I don't have any experience with the scale link barbed wire but I have been buying mine (in industrial quantities for our WW1 show game) from a firm called Ironclad, who are based in South Wales I think. I've picked them up at wargames shows and they are about a pound or so for a couple of metres. Good quality, looks realistic and in scale for WW1. I think S &A Scenics also used to do it but I don't know if they still do. Both firms should be on the web.
Hope this helps!

I would say that it most certainly is. I've used about 30 metres or so of it (probably more) on the 1/72 game that we built for the major wargames shows in the UK this year, and at Antwerp this November. It looks "right" if you know what I mean, not overscale and fine enough with the figures. I've even wound loads of it round dressmakers pins (with their heads cut off) to make barbed wire entanglements.
I'm attaching a photo (if it works!) from the game that might give you an idea.
Cheers
Paul
