Anyone remember Cpt Cadman?

Someone remembers him TCT - Cadman, The Fighting Coward - a strip from The Victor

One snippet - "... in Gallipoli where he is promoted to the rank of Captain after saving an Australian soldier from drowning." now there's a turn up for the books! And yes, your memory is correct about him joining the tanks at one stage (also the Flying Corps) not to mention upstaging TE Lawrence in Damascus. Ah, they don't write them like that any more - which is a great pity.

Does anyone (most likely one for the Brits) remember a character from the Victor comic (circa 1970s?) called Captain Cadman, the Fighting Coward? I have, for some reason, recalled this character whom I came across in an old Victor annual about twenty years ago.

The stories were set in WW1, with Cadman an antihero who always tries to run from danger, yet inadvertently manages to make himself look the hero. I think he was involved in tanks in at least one story; Ring any bells?

Seems to have been something of a one-man army, doesn't he - even if it was unintentional! I'd forgotten what a bounder Cadman is - isn't it good to be able to use that word? Bounder, cad, ruffian, capital, spiffing - there are all sorts of words people just don't use any more, surely to the detriment of the English language. I digress.

Thanks for replying, I had wondered if it was a foolish question to ask, but obviously not.

Yes, l remember in one issue he put a wounded soldier on his back to flee to his own trench across no mans land everyone thought he was a hero but in fact he was using the guy to protect himself from any bullets shot at him from behind whilst he fled. The Eagle comic was re-started in the early 80's. My playstation online profile has always been 'FightingCoward' in his honour.
