Who Operated Holt Artillery Tractors?

Just observed that Wikipedia says British Holts on the W Front were operated by "the Quartermaster Corps." Since there was no such thing, I wondered who it actually was. Artillery? ASC?

I think it would have been an ASC company attached to the relevant Royal Garrison Artillery unit

ASC sounds like a good bet. Without knowing what was running through the article author's/authors' mind(s), Quartermaster Corps seems like the US Army equivalent of the ASC, the "logistics" organisation, one of the four WW1 British corps having their origins in the old Board of Ordnance which in turn had origins pre-dating national standing armies as such.

Well, there's a hint of logic to that, just the wrong name. All we lack is the evidence. Confusing the picture, there was always a nice little war between artillery and service/transport with artillery invariably trying (and generally succeeding) to pinch prime movers that weren't theirs by allocation. Continued to WW2, perhaps it still goes on when push comes to shove.

The descriptions for interviews in the IWM Collections mention that they were in a ASC Motor Transport Section or Company ATTACHED to an RGA unit
