Not sure this would apply in smaller scales but would small arms bullet strikes be noticeable in 1/35 scale ? I can't seem to find any photos' showing this type of damage (if any)

1. Presumably you mean on armour? 2. You do, I believe, get deformation around bullet holes in thin metal (e.g. a car) and flaking/spalling of paint around the hole, but whether this happens with rigid armour I am not sure. Some of the effects seen in more recent wars may be down to the explosive content of the bullet (e.g. 20mm cannon). 3. Finding impacts in photos would be made harder by the merging effect of mopnochrome film ... 4. ... and the involuntary liberal application of mud everywhere ...
In mild steel plate, straight-on small arms strikes may produce dents (up to several calibres in diameter) and penetrating shots produce a crater effect on the outer face (that's in plate, not thin sheeting which just indents around the hole). You can see the effect if you Google bullet holes in steel and select the Images results. Like Mike, I am unsure what, if any, outwards signs you might see on proper armour plate - apart from lead splashes (especially from glancing strikes). Maybe some slight dishing if the interior surface spalled. Probably not a lot to see at 1/35 scale, I would agree.
