I am having problems registering ( to Rectanglia)

Rectanglia,

I tried to register yesterday, and did not receive an e-mail confirming my registration, a tan sign came up after I completed registering and noted that if I did not receive and e-mail within 5 minutes to contact the administrator, and so this is what I am doing

Thank you very much for your time!!

Darn, that makes it tricky. The Admin is long-gone and the Supermod is MIA too, those (probably) had the powers to re-send. As said elsewhere (somewhere), sometimes the address used in registration is incorrect, despite double entry (surely not, but check anyway), sometimes over-zealous service providers will react to the validation link and surreptitiously "drop" the message as suspected spam (can't do anything about that, except - you - contact them with the allegation and be prepared for denials or, occasionally, retrieval) sometimes your own (overzealous) mail agent/webmail page will react to the validation link and either delete the message or shove it into your "Junk" folder for eventual deletion, depending on the account settings (check your junk/spam/deletion folders).

I don't know the IP address the forum uses for validation e-mails but there is also a chance that might be blocked by your network (public or private real-time blocklist or reputation score check supposed to block spam but capable of incidentally catching innocent senders too) and may or may not have resulted in an "NDR" (non delivery report) back to the forum - but there is nobody here able to see an NDR anyway (see below). Not mentioned before, but possibly the forum's own flooding/anti-spam controls may have kicked in and withheld the validation message despite (cruelly) indicating elsewise - I don't know (see below). Most users don't see actual spam mail these days but there is a huge volume of it (outweighing real mail by a factor of 10:1) and the occasional unreliability of the e-mail services caused by coping with keeping it out of our inboxes comes as a nasty surprise to them on the few occasions when things go awry.

All else failing (as also mentioned before), try again - with a different member name AND a different e-mail address to maximise chance of success (changing either one might work, I don't know, but repeatedly working through the permutations should each attempt prevent re-use of one or both could be exhausting). A different e-mail address? Any fee webmail service should do - I think most let you forward, POP or IMAP to your "real" mail account these days. Spammers love using those accounts too so the blocking of them (the other side of the send-receive transaction) can be problem. As someone once said, about something else, it's not so much the wonder that it works so well as the wonder that it works at all. Or words to that effect.  About dogs walking on their hind legs or something ... the medication must be kicking in.

Anyway, not ideal but the best I can think of (anyone with better/more informed ideas, please speak up) and, as all the members here can attest, it is "doable" despite the obstacles some have to overcome - and we look forward to you joining us.

PS - one of the few things I can do is see where you're posting from and that provider seems to offer a perfectly good e-mail service (bit hard to tell, they hate Africa, Asia and Australasia, hence "me", Latin America untested) - unless you used an e-mail address from that service in your registration attempt, that would be a good one to try, if it is included in your internet bundle (no evident problems with their e-mail service even to those "bad" places, only noticeable thing is they just don't want "us" to look at their website).

Anyway, their mail server has a good reputation, isn't on any major public blocklist, etc., good chance of minimal problems, depending on their inwards mail handling/filtering/blocking (which admittedly could be a little paranoid given their evident hemispherism in the website context, in which case attitudinal adjustment - preferably with the rough end of a pineapple - might be appropriate, see above re contacting provider). Not that the southern hemisphere is involved in mail from the forum - that service seems to be hosted in Canada (outwards only service it looks like, possibly messages generated by the forum) or in California (using googlemail.com servers).

Rectanglia,

Last night I read your kind and helping post, then I noticed that when I tried to register I accidentally doubled a letter in my e-mail adress. So I thought to myself, that is  the problem.  So I tried again, with a new username ( Renegade) and passwords , still nothing I'm afraid.   As for my location I live in the US.  I looked at free webmail sites, and decided to reserve that rather troublesome problem until the very end( I am horrible in working with computers).  Thanks for all the advice, I really appreciate it

Thank you very much for your time!!

Rectalgia,

I tried just about everything you suggested, new passwords and username, looked in my Junk box etc. Still a no go.  I think my email webpage (Outlook) has a good reputation.  I shall try to register on the Landships II forum when it is available, OK?  Again thanks for all the help!!  And by the way, you may delete my unanswered posts in ON THE FORUM  if you wish, I am sure this forum needs extra space for more  posts.  Again  Retalgia I thank you very much for helping me!!!!

Thank you very much for your time!!

Ah, that is a pity - I can suggest nothing more offhand, it is some "little" thing that is behind this difficulty, I am sure. Look forward to hearing from you again in some kinder circumstance (and other members likewise will be waiting). Unanswered posts - yes, any that were dealt with in a subsequent topic/post I will clean up when/if I find them, they might be confusing to future readers otherwise but no harm apart from that.

Rectalgia,

Please notify me when the Landships II forum is put into action, so if I may, try to register there. Oh, and I posted a reply to FR73 about his requested information about bicycles, planning to do another in reply to his modelling webinar too, later to-night, just so you know. These posts will be the last ones unless I register.  Again thanks for your help, I REALLY appreciate it.

Thank you very much for your time!!

You're welcome Stormtroop - but unfortunately I have no way to "tap you on the shoulder". Suggest you keep watching this forum for a notice should the Landships II forum eventuate or similarly, should this venue disappear sometime down the way, watch Landships II for the link Charlie would undoubtedly add to that index page.
