Has anyone a sure fire way of connecting the vinyl/rubber tracks found in the M/B or Airfix tank kits, other than the heat sealing treatment ? Also, how do you overcome tracks that are too short, by about 4 -5 links ?

TIA

Paul

Haven't made my MB kits yet, but made a few Airfixs.

I made sure that the join was going to be in the centre on the bottom and then superglued the tracks on 1cm at a time, starting in the centre on the top, ie the centre of the flexible track piece.

The tracks were not long enough, by about two links on mine, and I filled the gap with milliput. Because it is on the bottom, it won't be seen.

Many Thanks PDA, I take it this was prior to any painting ?

What about making a simple mould and using resin to add to the bottom part of the tracks?

Yes, definitely before any painting.

You are very welcome, Paul

The Airfix kit comes now with soft rubbery tracks rather than hard vinyl ones. I haven't yet built mine, but I have tried the tracks for fit and it looks like they should easily stretch a little to go on, so I doubt you'd need to add extra links.
