We're doing well for figures at the moment, they'd go nicely with my RPM T Ford ambulance.

expect to see more from companies such as Bachmann. I would not be surprised to see one of those fortnightly magazines with WW1 vehicles sometime. Oxford Diecast have a Fowler traction engine planned, and they have been surprisingly quiet concerning more WW1 items which makes me wonder if they have something up their sleeve, given their background in promotional items.

Given how much r2r stuff that is being planned I am tempted to build something. The RPM ambulance is tempting, and there are some WW1 planes available on ebay from companies based in Poland.

Is any Bachmann WW1 stuff available to purchase right now, or are these just items that they are working on to be released at some future date? I don't mean just these figures, but all of their stuff; the locos, wagons &c.

The Bachmann items have been announced, but I get the feeling they could be out within the year. As there is a picture of the figures that makes me think they must be nearly ready. The railway items will take longer. I don't know how far development has gone, but hopefully model railway media will keep us informed. Its really the figures i want initially.

These have now been released. My gut feeling was correct when I saw a proper photo of figures originally. I have just ordered 3 sets, as I am thinking of a small working diorama using my 3D printed OO9 Decauville loco.

Thanks, rue. I've updated the news on the front page accordingly.

Can you keep an eye out and let us know when the locos and other bits and bobs are available as well, please.

just got mine today. what you see in the photo is them. good enough for me, as I could not paint them, but some might be able to do a better job.
The other railways items will not be around for a while. Unless Bachmann manage to fast-track the models I would not be surprised if they took at least 2 years to come out.
Another company(DJM) is producing model rail items, funded through crowd funding which means production does get fast tracked. Its amazing what real cash can do to get factories making what you want. Unfortunately I have not heard of any WW1 models being produced this way. I might contact the owner of the company to suggest some WW1 era models though.
In the mean time I now have my 1/76 scale WW1 narrow gauge locos available, including Tin Turtle Simplex loco bodies.

-----------------

Just had another look at new figures, they are better than I originally thought, possibly a bit shiny. Also noticed the 2 figures on left have red cross on arms, but could easily be painted over to represent other soldiers.

Figures arrived this morning.6 figures,2 nurses 2 medical chaps and 2 walking wounded.

At first glance they look OK especially when you consider they are "mass produced" the painting is very good even down to the brass detail on cap badges and buttons. They have been sealed with a gloss varnish but that can be toned down with a matt varnish.

These are 00 figures which to me means to a scale of 4mm=1ft.The men are to a scale hieght of 25mm which means that they are well over 6ft.The 2 walking wounded have amazingly long thin legs.

I have compared them with my (W^D) figures and they do not match at all well.

That being said they are a welcome addition and not forgetting we are not all the same, height or girth wise in the correct setting they will look fine.

Hi Simon, when will the Crochat be available in 1/76 please? Always meant to give 3d printing a go, and a good chance to start!

that is the one model that has failed again. Think it is only the handrail, but will now have to wait till have enough other models to print. This is one of the problems with Shapeways(others probably no better), is that when they find a problem they don't always find all the problems. I wanted this model quickly as I think it would fit a Kato bogie chassis.
I want to look at some other models to re-size so hopefully won't be long. Pity as Apedale is next week.
