Twitter link to mask recently sold in a Dorset auction, looks in fantastic condition but a little expensive?

Does this item have provenance? That might explain an apparently high price.

Originally belonging to Major Geoffrey Hampson DSO 1st Bn RTC with sound provenance through the family, the lot included his Sam Browne belt and (the best part of) a studio portrait - but at £1,281 realized well in excess of the estimate of £400-£800.  Can only imagine it is a good time to be selling WW1 items.
