Don't know how long these have been available, but Wings of the Great War have two tank models available; A7V and MkIV Male.

http://wingsofthegreatwar.com/

These aren't kits, they are supplied assembled and painted.

Not sure about the accuracy of the MkIV, both the paint scheme and rear armour details (can't be seen in the photos on their site). The sponsons look OK.

Was there ever a red hand painted over WRW stripes? Actually, the markings don't look right at all, to my eyes.

As I see it, it's horror )))
Markings - compilation of famous Mk.IV Fray Bentos II F41 (Red hand) and not less famous Mk.V Barrhead F56 (WRW strips and index). Also F56 on the roof is overturned.

Well, you get what you pay for. In this case I hope you don't pay very much.

There are NO photos of the "famous" Fray Bentos. There are lots of 'Fray Bentos II' captured at Cambrai and brought to Berlin afterwards. 'Fray Bentos II' obviously didn't have WRW stripes because these weren't introduced until 1918.

If possible, I'd use some paint stripper/remover, strip it right back and give it a re-spray.

Gwin,  but I didn't write about the "famous Fray Bentos". I wrote it about the "famous Fray Bentos II" - F41.

Or I do not understand you correctly?

 That's what I thought, too!

Gwyn and Grant, unfortunately, this is not a cheap model. For that much money I'd expect a very, very accurate model, and I wouldn't want to be messing around stripping off their paint.

It looks to me as if the sponsons are a different hue to the body. And we can't see the rear end. And the research is suspect. And the track plates are curved over the horns. I wonder if this is the Emhar kit with the sponsons from Matador, Mr X, or Modelltrans, and the unditching rails fixed?

So you did.  Apologies.  I guess I just regard the first "Fray Bentos" as the famous one on account of the exploits of its crew.

 My solution: don't buy it.

The A7V is US$35 plus post 1:72 scale and diecast.

So, in the UK that would be about £25.00, plus postage on top...say £30.00, give or take.

For that money, you can buy two Masterbox kits and some paints and do a better job yourself!!!

Yep, don't think I'll be buying one of these 'ready made' models!!

As you say, Denis; monsters! I am stunned. "Kelly's Heroes"? 400 MkIV in Palestine? An extra front machine gun? I don't think I've ever been that high and been able to type!
