Differences of the MKII drivers cab to the MKI and MKIV ones

I'd read often that the MKII cab was less wide than the MKI ones, but do anybody got some meassurements, maybe?

And were all MKII driver cabs equipped with an escape hatch, like the Bovingor tank?

The roof hatch is there only because at some point in this tank's history it was used for carrying stores, and these obstructed the driver and commander's access and egress. Mark IIs were not built with roof hatches.

I understand, it was a Supply Tank then, maybe after training and active service.

To convert an MKI to a MKII I'll just sand off a bit, then.
That's a quite easy task.

But, where there also those "tearshaped" closures to the Periscope holes? I think they weren't just left open if not used?

The observers hatch was the same like later on MKIV or was there any differences?

I had studied the conversation of the Airfix kit, but I'll do it with a 1/35 Takom kit, there maybe some more smaller details?

The covers for the periscope holes are simply missing. I'm not sure what you mean by the "observers hatch" - do you mean the visors in the cab front? If so these are the same but there are detail differences in the cab front between the Mark II and Mark IV that you will need to take into account. These are explained in various books.

I think "observer's hatch" means the hatch further back on the roof, above the engine-ish. Yes, that was the same on a MkII as on a MkIV.

Hedi, the pics are from Mark Hansen, one time frequenter of Landships, and contributor of several articles. Sadly, not seen here for some years.

Perhaps there is some merit in scouring the forum for more useful gems like this.
