The New 3D Section

I love the new 3D section! Big thank you and well done to Charlie, Arie, and Hans!

If I can be very cheeky indeed, can I say how much I'm looking forward to seeing this section expand, perhaps even with the stl files of a Tank Mark V in 1/72.

I don't have a 3D printer, but there is one available at my local public library; maybe there is one at your local public library!

Thank you - but I can take little credit being but the fingers of the intellects that created the models.

There are lots of very interesting ideas using .stl files. I saw a very nice idea to use a mobile phone camera and

a chain of free software packages to produce scaled .stl files from any 3D object you can walk around. There are a videos on this

on You Tube - search term "Photogrammetry". Example - see WW1 artillery piece in park, do walkaround, make model and .stl files,

tidy .stl files, make scaled 3D model, paint same, share .stl files globally - optionally rob bank to pay for the 3D printing especially if

you choose large scale and very high resolution. Anyone else see the industries which are going to get disrupted?

All those rivet counters who are going to be without objects to whine at? - how sad...

Most of the cardmodels on Landships II start out as 3D models so it wouldn't be a huge task to rework the models to 3D printable .stl files.

Regards,

Charlie

Charlie you are far too modest! Landships would not exist any more without your labours! Thank you for your stamina and constant attention to detail.
