Another trophy gun has been found!
German cannon from WW I found underneath Amherstburg ballpark
Anybody want to identify it?
German field gun found at site of new Amherstburg high school - Windsor Star
It has an ID number: 4149

Looks like a 77mm FK96Na.
Agree - 7.7cm FK 96 n.A - with a 4149 serial it was probably built during the early part of WW1. All the FKs up to about
serial 3500 were converted from the original M1896 guns. You need to see the markings on the lower part of the breech ring
to be sure - see attached image of a converted 1896 gun.
