I don't know! We get no comms from SparkLIT and we have no control over this forum. We have been handicapped for years because the best we can do is delete a few posts here and there. We have no power to accept new members or reinstate old accounts - the communications do not come to me.
There is no assurance that it will not happen again.
I strongly urge everyone who is able to download all photos and other files so that they are not lost forever if ever SparkLIT shuts the forum down again.
Also, we need to come up with ways of 'meeting up' again if the forum is shut down again. There is a Landships group on Facebook, but I know that many of our friends here do not like FB. Any suggestions are welcomed.
I noticed the Forum was down, and gave them a couple days to see if it was just a blip. Messaged Charlie. Emailed Sparklit on November 25th, again on 28th, and again on December 6th. Got a brief reply to the last one on Weds 7th. It reads thus:
Hey James
We've got that fixed up, it should work now.
-Rob
It does, indeed, work for the time being. But of course I echo PDA and Charlie's concerns and suggestions.

I did a bit of playing around and found you can save the forum threads as static .html files with the images, etc saved in a directory of the same name as the file.
I've got a spare 2Tb disk and it's pretty easy to save off the forum threads as .html files. It would be easy to emulate the structure of the forum with a directory structure.
If the forum vanished due to Sparklit becoming dim or other catastrophe at least we'd have the information to build an emulation of the forum contents or perhaps the
saved contents could be offered to archive.org. I know archive.org has got captures of the forum but these are missing most of the images.
Just a thought

Charlie

May I suggest the Missing Lynx "World War 1 + 1920s and 1930s" forum.
It is a Tapatalk forum, free, and has about the same level of activity as the Landships forum (I count 32 threads active in 2022 on that ML forum).
