Hi Josh,

I just did some quick research, on Ebay.fr (French Ebay) there seems to be one.
Just type '1/72 vac vacuform balloon Roseplane', it must be not that difficult to find your way there.

babelfish translates just about anything.

Can an American buy from French ebay? Of course! That's capitalism for you, comrade.

I believe Roseplane kits were available from "Rosemont Hobby shop" in the US, who manufactured them.... no idea if they still do though...

Hi Josh, you can get the roseplane Drachen as well as the caquot balloon at Modellbaustudio Rhein-Ruhr in Essen, Germany.I think their homepage is classic plane.de something like this.I bought both of them a couple of years ago but Iknow he has still some in stock.  I paid about 25 each.

It seems as though Rosemount hobbies went under, but I could try that second German option.

Yup, thats where it came up to, I sent them an email last nite still waiting for a reply.

P.S to differentiate:  a Caquot is a French device that should look much similar to today's Hot air balloons, and the Drachen that I'm looking for is more like a miniature blimp, correct? or are they the same?

Regards, Josh

Hi Josh, the Parseval-sigsfeld Drachenballon as well as the Caquot balloon both were captive balloons and both were filled with gas .The Drachen was being used by the german and allied forces up to 1916/17,when the french invented the caquot balloon which had three inflatable stabilizers instead of only one that gave it a bomb-like appearence. That design was soon copied by the germans as the AE- ballon.

They gave a pretty generalized runaround, but I'll keep emailing. Any place else where I could find one?

Regards, Josh.

I will be going to the IPMS at Telford next month.Apart from the usual "big ones" there are lots of traders selling second hand stuff including Kingkit. If I see one do you want me to buy one? If so how much are you willing to pay ?

Tried French ebay again, nothing.
Contacted at least three second hand dealers, no replies.
Anything else you guys can think of would be extremely helpful in the search for this model. Warmest regards, Josh.

Hey found one but its 1/144th scale. Not too familiar with scales outside of this hobby would this be too big or too small for use with 1/72 scale miniatures?
Regards, Josh.

Hi Josh, i1/144 is half the size of 1/72, so your Drachen would need to be placed well in the background or above the table.

Ok then, Ah, I found another; in 1/72 scale, anyone hear of "Hippo models" they seem to have produced a limited run in resin. Could be more potential prey for Barry. anyone else know where to find one?

Greetings, Josh

I have found one for sale in Europe.
http://piezaapieza.net/index.php?currency=USD&manufacturers_id=99&page=1&sort=5a&language=en&osCsid=d49886a67167db2e031661936270cf76

There is one teeny weeny little problem...

...It costs $138.
Still, it is the only one that I can find so far, so everyone else: join in the hunt!

Hippo Models no longer do those resin kits, now there into large scale plastic injection namely a 1/48 Gotha V

http://hippomodels.sweb.cz/

If you can afford the prices its probarbly worth buying the drachen, 1/144 scale is half the size of 1/72 both the balloon and airship(Huge)are very pretty models but out of my price range...

Any news on finding a roseplane one lately? I'll keep the hippo one in mind but I'll agree it is very pricey.

Warmest Regards, Josh.

This guy?
Might have been sold already (almost 2 years!) but if it was, someone would've commented probably, so there's still a good chance.
Still pricey though.

And theres something in this endless list here:

I've seen the first one for months already, the second one looks like a scam. (He has a hidden domain email) so I'm not sure if anyone would even be able to contact it.)

Anything else?

Warmest regards, Josh

The address appears to be @videotron.ca (instead of @xxxxxxxxxxxx or @DOMAIN.HIDDEN). There could be any number of (innocent?) reasons the address was "munged" on that page but it is clear enough at other sites.

The address functions correctly (on tests - no message sent) though it looks like videotron.ca uses greylisting on mail to user accounts (your provider needs to have configured for greylisting in order for mail to get through). This is not uncommon and legitimate mail SHOULD be configured to "re-try" its way through greylisting. Greylisting is a popular measure to reduce the spam received in fact, though some spammers seem to have adjusted accordingly.

Anyway, on a quick search I found nothing bad being said about jmarcpe

Also, any leads on the support vehicles for a Drachen and or other aircraft support vehicles (fuel trucks etc.) read about MGM was coming out with some but apparently it never happened. Any suggestions on what the Luftstreitkrafte used to keep their planes in action?

Regards, Josh
