British Army uniform colour is described as khaki, which many people think of as a shade of green, but was actually a shade of brown, like this:
I have been trying to find the colour of the British Army Greatcoat, as issued to "the men", not the "British Warm" issued to officers.
Does anybody know the colour? Was it the same as the rest of the uniform, or did it come out more greenish, or beigish, or taupish, or fawnish? (those probably are not real words)
Possibly it bore a remarkable similarity to the version supplied to the Australians (except maybe the buttons) - "modified, simplified" single-breasted and sort of brown.
